Ghafari ICT + Security Designer in United States
Ghafari Associates is looking for a ICT + Security Designer to join the team. This role will report to a Director in the Chicago office, but can be 100% remote from anywhere in the U.S. If desired, we also have flexibility to come into the office if you live near one of our office locations.
The ICT + Security Designer will provide design for telecommunications, LAN, CCTV, fire alarm, access control, and wireless LAN for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes.
Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze data, telecommunication, fire alarm and security systems for the design and installation, of data, telecommunications, fire alarm and security systems/networks using applicable BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA guidelines and NFPA -72.
Prepare working drawings for construction on CAD system. Provide CAD support to more senior staff.
Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
Conduct field measuring and checking at project site.
Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
With assistance, edit project specifications.
Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or related field, ie. engineering, information technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-6 years related experience in data, telecommunication, fire alarm and security engineering field.
RCDD certification a bonus
Security Certification CPP PSP from ASIS or ICAO a bonus
Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel and MSWord, Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD
Acoustic Calculators EASE, BIM360
