Ghafari Senior Process Engineer - Ventilation/Dust Collection/Piping in Dearborn, Michigan
Responsibilities
Ghafari Associates is looking for Senior Mechanical Engineers to join the team. This role will support nationwide projects and report to a manager out of the Dearborn, MI office. Candidates can choose to be HYBRID, or 100% IN OFFICE in our Dearborn, MI office location, or FULLY REMOTE with availability to travel to the Dearborn, MI office occasionally to support project activity.
General Summary:
Responsible for providing engineering and design for process systems, which includesdust collection systems, ventilation design and piping design for process equipment systems. Prepare conceptual design layouts and process flow diagrams, perform engineering calculations, and specify equipment for process systems.
Essential Functions:
Shall be familiar with mechanical systems and manufacturing processes for which systems will be designed.
Mechanical systems shall include ventilation systems, HVAC and exhaust systems.
Design of process piping to include process flow diagrams and P&ID's.
Work with clients to develop system concepts, including general layouts, utility matrix, process flow diagrams, selection of off-the-shelf purchased equipment and interface to it.
Coordinate with other disciplines including electrical/controls, structural, civil, etc. to develop a complete engineered package.
Prepare equipment installation packages. Coordinate with suppliers for general system layouts, interface drawings and installation drawings for equipment, platforms, etc.
Participate with project teams and clients to prepare project scopes, generate project specifications or edit customer specifications.
Prepare bid packages including system scopes of work/system description, overall plan and area views, process flow diagrams, sequence of operations as well as detailed fabrication drawings and specifications for a complete system.
Provide design calculations for ventilation systems, fans, air make up units and associated duct work with regards to static losses, downdraft requirements, and systems effects losses.
Understand and be familiar with all applicable governmental (i.e., OSHA, NFPA) Safety Codes & Standards
Review and approve contractor submittals, including engineering calculations, equipment cut sheets, material selections, sequence of operations, etc.
Travel to client’s sites to perform field site visits to inspect existing equipment, systems and facilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited school is preferred.
Minimum 10 years of related work experience is required.
Skills/Competencies:
- AutoCAD, Inventor or Revit proficiency is a plus.• Proficient in MS Office.• Working knowledge of process system engineering and design.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
