Ghafari Material Handling Systems Designer in Dearborn, Michigan
Job Description:
General Summary:
With direct supervision from the Group Manager, Project Manager and senior engineers, participate in the preparation and development of conveyor related project deliverables, ensure project deliverable quality and perform project assignments. The Conveyor Designer performs basic conveyor system related engineering calculations, participate in design development activities and may assist with implementation support.
Essential Job Functions:
Understand basics of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes for various types of conveyor systems, including baggage handling, parcel handling, and sortation systems. Also understand the basics of other mechanical systems and manufacturing processes as they relate to conveyors, material handling and delivery equipment, line display equipment, as well as pneumatic, hydraulic applications and electrical conveyor controls.
Participate as directed, in the designing of system layouts and determination of operational requirements so that a detailed system flow can be generated.
Participate as directed in the system throughput validation process. Primary responsibilities include CAD drafting and detailing.
Participate as directed in the creation of demolition and rework pertaining to the possible re-use of existing equipment. Primary responsibilities include CAD drafting and detailing.
Participate as directed in the creation of structural support steel layouts. Primary responsibilities include CAD drafting and detailing.
Produce system as-built/as-installed drawings, as directed.
Perform as directed to aid in the preparation or editing of project specifications and reports.
Understand contract documents and project records. Maintain project records as well as daily personal records of communications and directions given and received.
Understand governmental Safety Codes & Standards, as they relate to assignments.
Understand client Specifications and Safety Codes & Standards, as they relate to assignments Track and communicate project assignment status.
Perform field checking of existing equipment, sites and facilities, as directed.
Must be able to travel and accept field assignments to promote project success.
Employment Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university preferred
Prefer 1 – 5 years of related work experience
Skills/Competencies:
Proficient in Autodesk design software
Revit
Inventor (or similar non-Autodesk 3D modeling software)
AutoCAD
Proficient in MS Office
General knowledge of material handling concepts and engineering fundamentals
Good verbal and written communication skills
