Responsibilities
Job Description
The Laser Scanning Specialists primary functions are to capturescan data at client locations using laser scanners and survey tools, process the data to accurate point cloud models, and incorporating the data in CAD / BIM for A/E Design Team utilization. This position requires working directly with Ghafari’s project managers, project engineers, and design leads to plan and perform these projects for a wide variety of facilities and locations.
Essential Job Functions:
Under the supervision of the Sr. Laser Scanning Technician, perform survey and reality capture field work using survey tools and scanners.
Under the supervision of the Sr. Laser Scanning Technician, assist in perform data processing
Utilize cloud-based file sharing technologies
Create CAD backgrounds and BIM Models to host Point cloud data for Design Team
Stay abreast of technology in the industries and facilitate team discussions based on industry knowledge
Participate in other duties related to technology in the AEC industry
Qualifications
Employment Qualifications:
Education:
- Associates Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related degree
Experience:
- One to two years of surveying experience or familiarity and knowledge of Leica scanners and Leica Cyclone Register 360 software (RTC360, BLK360 & BLk2Go)
Skills/Competencies:
General knowledge of high-definition laser scanning technologies
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
Basic knowledge of Revit
Basic knowledge of drafting standards
Ability to navigate, read, and understand construction documents
Requirements:
On-site local, national, and possible international travel required
Maintain a high level of professionalism
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
Interpersonal and teamwork skills
Must be able to work additional hours as needed
Physical Requirements
Standing or sitting for prolonged periods, up to 10 hours a day during site visits
Exposure to outdoor elements (cold, rain, snow, heat)
Must be able operate motor vehicles
Moving about to accomplish tasks
Some bending and crouching will be required
