Ghafari Interior Designer (Workplace Planning) in Dearborn, Michigan

Responsibilities

Ghafari Associates (in association with Ford Motor Company) is seeking talented design professionals to help lead the transformation of our architectural portfolio, as we realize a shift toward a more human focused and inspirational experience within our built environments. We recognize the role the built environment has on the occupants and challenge ourselves to progress design thinking in all aspects of interior architecture, exterior architecture, landscape design, and strategic planning. This position will be part of the Ghafari team working exclusively with Ford Motor Company and the Ford Land Architecture/Engineering/Planning division.

The Workplace Planning Team is responsible for the creation of the Global Workplace Standards and to ensure adherence to the standards. A successful Interior Design (Workplace Planning) candidate works closely with the leasing and construction teams to manage the design and development of interior tenant space.The Workplace Planning Team meets with customers to ascertain their needs, and provides detailed floor plans and direction to the project management team to implement.They will also work to develop building standard tenant improvement packages, review tenant drawings and external fit out plans, and ensure adherence to lease agreement and building standards.

Interior Designers (Workplace Planners) engage in the following activities:

  • Initial customer meetings

  • Programming scope and development in adherence with the Global Workplace Standards

  • Test fit space plans

  • Detailed space plans

  • Furniture plans

  • Interior finish plans

  • Develops and executes migration and phasing plans for relocation and sequencing based on the physical space requirements

  • Establishes project goals and objectives, including but not limited to, schedule and budget parameters

  • Attends meetings with internal Ford stakeholders when working with Ford tenant space

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture

  • NCIDQ a plus, but not required

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience within the industry

  • LEED or WELL professional certifications preferred

  • Prior experience in R&D, retail, and corporate facilities

  • Experience in large commercial projects ($100M + project budget)

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to positively represent the company

  • Strong creative problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail, organized, self-motivated

Proficiencies:

  • Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365

  • Project Software: Autodesk BIM 360 or Procore

  • Autodesk Suites: AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketchbook

  • Design: Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape

  • Collaboration: MIRO, WebEx Teams
