Ghafari Architectural Designer in Dearborn, Michigan

Responsibilities

General Summary:

The Architectural Designer 3, with some supervision from the Manager of Architecture and Design Director, takes responsibility for executing a variety of design and technical tasks on projects of any size with focus on Architectural Design. Design focus ranges from site planning, project programming through design documentation and includes, both exterior and interior building architecture.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists in research of local zoning and entitlement processes for the preparation of site and master plans.

  • Assists in research and preparation of written and visual programming documents as part of the design process. This may include, but not limited to, interviewing clients or staff, field verifying existing sites and buildings and internet research and data analysis.

  • Develop concept designs through sketches, massing studies, 3d models, diagrams, and other visual formats in order to express the design intent and communicate to project team, client, and building user groups.

  • Develop initial concepts into the Design Development phase of a project with emphasis on how a design is built.

  • Research new materials, details and processes as part of a projects design development.

  • Prepare project presentations with the ability to present those presentations to clients, government agencies and other peer groups. This includes, but is not limited to, site and building renderings in varying forms of finished quality.

  • Preparation of both physical and digital material boards.

  • Work as a collaborative team member and assist Project Architects and other Project Engineers as they develop a design in the Construction Document Phase.

  • Attend construction site visits to gain in-field experience of construction techniques to aid in ones development as an architectural designer.

  • Assist in reviews of construction submittals and RFI’s as related to design materials and details.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.

  • NCARB AXP completion preferred.

  • Licensing exams in progress.

  • LEED and/or Well certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years related architecture experience.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape ,Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, InDesign and Powerpoint.

  • Familiar with Dynamo, Rhino/Grasshopper or other forms of computational design software’s.

  • Basic knowledge in the creation and production of animations and 3D fly-throughs.

  • Familiar with BIM360, MS Office and Microsoft Teams.

  • Knowledgeable with point cloud software (e.g. Autodesk Recap).

  • Knowledgeable with industry production concepts and applications as it pertaining to architecture, interior design, urban design and planning.
