Ghafari Architect in Dearborn, Michigan
The Architect is responsible for having an understanding of the various systems in a variety of building types (i.e.: commercial office, research and engineering centers, manufacturing plants) and also acting as a technical resource to the Company in the design, operation and maintenance of all the various facilities.
Provide technical direction for building envelope/enclosures on all of our facilities. Keeping current with the latest products and methods available.
Prepare standards, best practices, and special architectural specifications and design requirements for feasibility studies, cost estimates, construction and other Ford Land activities.
Review and interpret building codes and other architectural regulatory matters and determine the impact on Company facilities and construction projects.
Prepare (or review and recommend for approval) construction cost estimate criteria for architectural items in all projects and proposed project studies.
Establish requirements for architectural plans and specifications and direct consultants in the design and engineering of facilities, to assure requirements are met.
Establish requirements for architectural drawings and specifications for new Company facilities and major facility modifications.
Monitor design and consultant performance for timing, quality and value engineering.
Analyze architectural proposals and submittals in contractors’ tenders and submit recommendations to the Manager, Planning & Architecture and the Project Manager.
Work closely with Project Managers to expedite all phases of construction work.
Support Project Managers in maintaining Project records for all relevant architectural matters.
Provide subject matter expertise (SME) to the team and drive the implementation of global processes and strategies. Drive technical innovation and continuous improvement of facility standards and specifications.
Strengthen Company programs to ensure implementation of sustainability initiatives in commercial, retail, manufacturing, research, and test facilities.
Provide subject matter expertise to projects in the NA region, and support to regional projects.
Drive the use of new technologies to maximize capital investment efficiency and sustainability in all corporate infrastructure programs.
Support and maintain positive relationships with government authorities, municipalities, and communities in which we operate to enhance long term working relationships with community officials. Ensure that our facilities comply with local codes, laws and recommended practices.
Direct the efforts of external engineering consultants on facility evaluations, design alternatives analysis, feasibility studies, estimating and construction delivery systems.
Contribute and maintain the manufacturing facilities construction documents website, working with the various departments to keep current the construction specifications and standards.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Masters degree preferred
Registered Architect preferred
LEED certification preferred
Minimum 5 years experience in architecture
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
Experience in commercial and industrial construction projects preferred
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Willingness to travel on an as needed basis (travel should not exceed 10%)
