Ghafari Lighting Designer in Chicago, Illinois
The Lighting Designer D1, with overall direction from the Manager of Electrical Engineering and/or senior staff, will provide electrical analysis, design and drafting skills to develop engineering design documents for lighting, lighting control systems and circuiting for new construction and/or renovation of industrial and commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. The Lighting Designer D1 will provide lighting design and computer-aided design (CAD) to develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection and control of lighting fixtures.
Essential Job Functions:
Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD.
Work closely with architects and engineers during design phase of project to understand project scope of work.
Select light fixtures and control systems appropriate for the application.
Perform lighting calculations using software-based calculation tools to evaluate lighting distribution and photometric levels.
Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
Prepare schematic and detailed design packages for lighting, lighting control systems, etc.
Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.
Communication and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.
Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
Review project lighting system submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
Perform related duties as assigned.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
1-5 years of related experience in the lighting design and electrical engineering field.
Lighting Certification (LC) or equivalent preferred.
AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office
Engineering software for lighting, design knowledge of power and lighting,
